Who Is James?

You arrived at this web page because you are either James's enemy or James's friend, or just surfing around.

As of May 18, 2003, an exciting chapter of life came to a close.  The graduation ceremony marks an accomplishment of 5 years at Carnegie Mellon University undergraduate (actually, 8 semesters of classes and 2 semesters of co-op), moreover, it also marks a new chapter in life.  The chapter of Reality 101.

On June 30, 2003, working as Engineer at L'Oreal, the world leader in cosmetics and beauty, begins with full steam!!  The location is in northern New Jersey, just a 20-minute train ride from Manhattan in New York City.  It is a dream come true.

Hobbies include tennis, skiing/snowboarding, broaden my horizon, musical instruments, martial arts & sleep . . . . . cute aSian girls

Music replenishes my soul, I listen to everything (yes, everything).  My favorite genre of music are alternative and Euro trancePiano is my favorite musical instrument, and I tried to find some links, but they are all boring.  If you know any good ones, let me know.  I have played piano for the longest time, even after a few breaks in between.  Guitar is also my favorite, and I found some good links on chords and tabs.  I am not a big instrument specialist, but playing musical instruments revives my senses.

The Tseng Clan

I am a first generation Chinese-American from Taiwan, with a family of Chinese origin.  The Chinese today is made up of different groups of people (56 to be exact).  One of them is called "Han".  Among the Han people, there is another subgroup called "Hakka (Kejia)".  The Hakka, who speak a distinctly different dialect from other Han peoples, live mostly in southern China.  The Hakka people also form a major element in the overseas Chinese communities.  Though there are many different dialects spoken in China, for all Chinese the written language is the same.

The Tseng Clan is Hakka in blood.  Over the centuries, they thrived in the Shandong province in northern China.  The first emigration occurred when the Mongols invaded China (Song Dynasty) in 1279.  The clan moved southward toward the sea coast.  The second emigration came about when the Manchu invaded China (Ming Dynasty) in 1644.  This time the clan reached the coast and moved further across waters to the island of Formosa (Taiwan) and Southeast Asia.  Other Hakka people, literally means the "guest people", may share the same stories, though they are not all named Tseng.

The ancestral home on my paternal side is Dongguan, Guangdong province, China.  Though his family left the place for Southeast Asia in the 1900's.

The ancestral home on my maternal side is Chaozhou, Guangdong province, China.  Her family transplanted to Taiwan in the midst of communist takeover in 1947.
